Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.
About Business
The ADM Business Unit (BU) focuses on the development and continued sustaining of product in the Aerospace, Space, Defense and Military industries.
The Engineering Excellence team is a focal point within the Engineering Organisation of the BU, responsible for the pursuit of efficiency and effectiveness within all aspects of engineering. The main areas of responsibility are:

Position Scope
The Sr Mgr Engineering Excellence reports to the Director, CTO Excellence. This is a global role providing innovation and consistency of approach in all aspects of product development and sustaining. The postholder has responsibility for contributing to strategy, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring execution against committed targets to enable the organisation to maximise return on the investment within the function.

Strategy
The postholder will:
Support the development of long-term planning to allow the function to achieve its strategy goals specifically around the efficient and effective utilisation of resources.
Monitor advancements in engineering software that can add potential value in the toolbox.
develop improvement strategies that will reduce costs, enable more effective resource expenditure, and ensure the potential to maximise engineering throughput and output,
Provide advice and technical knowledge to the wider organisation on all areas of industry standard and best in class performance criteria for their areas of responsibility,
Partner with cross-functional organisations across the BU to align strategies in all areas of responsibility to ensure parallel and complimentary transformation,
Represent ADM in cross TE Engineering initiatives to leverage and share best practice and ensure ADMs interests are catered for.
Define suitable analytics and reporting methods to monitor progress of plans and effectiveness of strategy.

Execution
The postholder will:
Act as a lean champion and innovative thought leader, focusing on driving standardization, simplification, and digitalization for and across the product lifecycle.
Steer the Engineering function in the identification, prioritisation and execution of opportunities and areas of potential improvement.
Provide insights to the leadership teams and stakeholders on critical/important projects with impact analysis
ensure suitable tools, and process & methodology exist to support the efficient execution of product design;
be accountable for engineering software and systems budget;
Implement a robust analytics infrastructure across end-to-end product development lifecycle, extracting data from appropriate systems to provide real-time actionable insights on product development and continuous improvement efficiency and effectiveness;
Provide valuable insights and direction on opportunities for investments, synergies, and enhancements across the engineering operations.

The postholder will:
Lead a global, partially remote team.
Create a people strategy to allow the team to efficiently discharge its duties.
Optimise the team structure aligned to changing business needs and continued growth.
Create mechanisms to:
Define competency requirements for all roles within the group to support development and succession planning,
impartially manage performance, reward, and benefits,
Provide Coaching and Mentorship opportunities for the Engineering Excellence organisation.
Co-ordinate professional development opportunities within the wider engineering organisation to support the development of a high performing, engaged workforce, capable of scaling in line with business growth.
Experience/Qualifications:
10+ years leadership in a multi-national, product and technology development environment with a preference for experience in related industries;
Track record of delivering consistent and demonstrable year over year improvements aligned to business strategy;
Experience defining and scaling Engineering design process excellence programs, tools and initiatives;
Experience in design engineering and the product development stage gate process;
Proficiency in standard reporting/presentation and data analysis tools;
PMP (or comparable alternative) qualified;
Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies desirable;
Strong general IT skills.
