Operations BI team is responsible for the Production Data load and ongoing enhancements/development of Journals Data Warehouse, Books Data Warehouse, OSCAR Data Warehouse and technology support for Celonis.
As part of Digital Business Solutions team, we work closely in a technology partnership with the Operations Data Management business team to provide timely insight that allows Elsevier to take action and meet existing and emerging customer needs and expectations. We support these insights through the provision of data warehouses build around our Journals and Books businesses, and our Customer Support division. This includes day-to-day development and support as well as developing long-term solutions for sustained high quality data and analytics.
This role will be based in the Chennai, India office working alongside the technical lead and business stakeholders based in the Oxford, UK office (although everyone is currently working remotely). The business consumers of the insights are based around the globe.
About the Role As a Data Engineer in the Operations Business Insights team, you will be responsible for developing new data pipelines and supporting existing data pipelines that load data for Books, Journals and Oscar from various source systems into our Data Mesh.
About the Responsibilities
Working closely with product owners, database architects, team lead and data analysts on new data initiatives.
Operating in an agile working environment while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Following development processes, coding best practices, and performing code reviews.
Writing and reviewing portions of detailed specifications for the development of data components of moderate complexity.
Collaborating with other engineering team members in understanding the data and translating requirements.
About the Requirements
Overall Work Exp: 56 Years
Have Strong experience in data warehousing, ETL and SQL area.
Have experience in doing SQL Optimizations.
Have an experience in supporting, developing, and enhancing data pipelines using AWS Glue, Python and Snowflake (or equivalent technology).
Have experience in release management using CI/CD pipelines.
Have experience in Agile software development, with familiarity of Scrum and Kanban ceremonies and artefacts.
Be able to work in a team with people from all backgrounds.
Have analytical and problem-solving skills.
Be able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
Have experience in database modelling & design (desirable).
