General Summary:
Responsible for the development and/or coordination of integrated logistics strategies, including supply chain management. This includes coordinating, routing, and preparing trade documents for domestic and international shipments on behalf of an assigned business unit, project, or division. Supports and troubleshoots a variety of projects and issues on a daily basis on behalf of assigned internal customers. Might work with freight carriers, service vendors, and/or internal functional groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of Logistics or related work experience.
Preferred Qua lifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of customs clearance, shipment scheduling, planning, coordinating, or related work experience.
• 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides high-level logistics support for complex projects undertaken by various business units. Coordinates, routes, and prepares trade documents.
• Works with customers, third-party manufacturers, and internal teams globally to troubleshoot complex shipment-related issues.
• Prepares customs clearance documents, works with broker for import filing, clears on duty exemption versus duty paid per guidelines, verifies HS (Harmonized System) codes and duty rates, approves broker filed checklist and updates LCT (Logistics Compliance Tool).
• Obtains approvals from STPI (Software Technology Parts of India)/SEZ (Special Economic Zone), Customs EPC (Export Promotion Council) for imports, exports, IUT (Inter-unit Transfer), debonding and destruction.
• Renews multiple licenses (e.g., STPI, SEZ, Customs, IEC) to ensure consistent and ongoing relationships with existing agencies; includes identifying expiration dates and initiating renewal prior to license expiration date.
• Files monthly, quarterly, and yearly returns and reports with required organizations (e.g., STPI, SEZ, and EPC) to inform import and export performance on behalf of the organization.
• Selects freight carrier based on research, valuation and routing protocols, and customer requirements. Supports carrier rate negotiation activities, answers payment questions, and ensures freight bills are compliant with negotiated rates.
• Provides constructive and actionable feedback on freight supplier’s performance and assists with freight carrier RFP’s/RFQ’s. Measures and monitors compliance to company policies and procedures, and ISO Shipping/Export Processes.
• Helps establish plans for regulatory requirements that affect logistics operations and independently collaborates with regulatory groups as needed.
• Works with individuals internally and externally to integrate projects and ensure changes work with other components of a specific project.
• Communicates within own team, project lead and/or other teams to provide status and information about impending obstacles and suggests remediation.
• Re-scopes projects, identifies resources, delegates work, and reviews the work of team members in order to address changing timelines or priorities.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works under some supervision.
• Provides some supervision/guidance to other members; does not have direct reports.
• Decisions are moderate in nature. Errors are detected and corrected with relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships. May require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. Role may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
• Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
• Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
• Creativity is needed to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
• Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
• Incumbent’s input may be solicited during strategic planning period.
