National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) invites application for the position Project Officer – Child and Protection
Project: “National Initiative & Integrated Resource for Child Protection, Mental Health, and Psychosocial Care”
No of post: 02 (TWO)
Essential Qualifications:
a. Masters’ degree in Social Work/Psychology.
b. At least 3 years’ experience (post to essential qualification) in directly working with children, with a minimum of 1 year working in state child protection systems and/or child care institutions.
c. Strong understanding of the structure and workings of the child protection system, including knowledge of child laws applicable in the protection system, namely juvenile justice and child sexual abuse laws.
d. Knowledge of protection risks and emotional and behavioural consequences of children in vulnerable circumstances.
e. Training experience in child protection-related issues (such as with child protection functionaries).
f. Knowledge of research methodology, including the ability to conceptualize research studies.
g. Evidence of written work and documentation in the area of child mental health, and protection.
h. Strong English oral and written skills, with experience in coordinating and communicating with government and other systems/agencies.
i. Good working knowledge of oral Hindi and/or Kannada. Willingness to travel within the country
Desired knowledge/skills:
- PhD in Social Work/Psychology.
- Experience in providing psychosocial interventions for vulnerable children in state child protection systems.
- Oral/ working knowledge of at least 1 (Indian) regional language.
- Experience and ability to develop social media/awareness materials.
- Published papers in the area of child protection and/or psychosocial care
Maximum age limit: 35 years
Emoluments: Rs.90,000/- per month (Consolidated)
Location: Bangalore City/ NIMHANS
