Back office work refers to positions within a company that aren’t client-facing. The back office is essentially the department that provides support to the front office, or client-facing, positions with their various responsibilities. Employees in the back office handle several administrative tasks, including maintaining records and data management. For example, at a call centre, most of the jobs may be client-facing. However, the back office jobs at a call centre may include accounting, HR, analytics and office management.
Typically, the back office generates less income for a company than the front office does.
