Desktop Support Engineer
Responsibilities :
l Provide support for hardware components, including desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, and scanners.
l Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and software applications.
l Conduct hardware and software upgrades and repairs as needed.
l Respond to user inquiries and technical issues promptly, either in person or remotely.
l Assist users with account setup, password resets, and access permissions.
l Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues by performing tests and analyzing system logs.
l Identify and address network connectivity problems.
l Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patches, and antivirus scans.
l Monitor system performance and recommend optimizations.
l Configure and troubleshoot peripheral devices, including printers, scanners, and external storage devices.
l Install and maintain device drivers and updates.
l Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
l Document support tickets, resolutions, and procedures.
l Prepare reports on support activities and recurring issues.
l Assist in ensuring the security of end-user devices and data by implementing security policies, software updates, and access controls.
l Provide basic training to end-users on using hardware, software, and common applications.
l Develop user-friendly guides and documentation.
l Manage hardware and software inventory, including procurement, asset tracking, and disposal.
Qualifications
l A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field is preferred.
l Proven experience in desktop support or related IT roles.
l Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and common software applications.
l Familiarity with hardware components, network configurations, and peripheral devices.
l Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
l Customer service-oriented with the ability to provide a high level of end-user support.
Soft Skills:
l Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
l Patience and empathy when dealing with end-users.
l Ability to work independently and in a team.
l Adaptability to new technologies and a dynamic IT environment.
