Job Summary :
Primary responsibility of this role is ensuring products (Luminaires, Panel Boards, Control Equipments, Cable Glands/Fittings) are regulatory agency compliant for applicable national and international standards requirements. This responsibility includes design inputs, design construction reviews, components selection, products final tests/evaluations and direct interfacing with regulatory agencies. It also requires to have strong communication skills, drive, strong engineering acumen with enthusiasm in the product compliance arena.
• Thorough understanding of product design & development lifecycle of preferably LED luminaires, control equipment and/or cable glands/fittings.
• Coordinates and implements product testing and certification through agencies/NRTLs to comply with UL/CSA/IEC/EN standards inline with product introduction dates.
• Plans and directs the efforts for our product certifications to the applicable agency for proper listing. In addition, will conduct the analysis and interpretation of modifications affecting the certification of our products.
• Gathers and leverages data on National Electrical Code, EU directives and other Safety Standard changes in an effort to determine the potential impact for Eaton, GEIS products helping to ensure a competitive position is maintained within the market.
• Utilizes collaboration skills to influence and resolve complex problems, influence stakeholders to drive results, and ensure testing is being conducted in accordable with all applicable standards (UL, CSA, ATEX & IEC). This may include Agency Engineers, Field Inspectors, team members in the Engineering, Test Lab, Operations & Marketing.
• Responsible for the maintenance of a documentation system which tracks product listing requests and their status to insure complete and accurate information is available to the organization.
• Provide inputs on potential impacts and risks associated during design/supplier change proposals, support cert related questions/inquiries from other departments.
• Act as “”go-to”” person for interpretation/application of safety standard(s) clauses, makes proposals to change standards as applicable.
• Negotiate certification project cost, timelines and test plans with appropriate rationale/engineering judgement.
• Participate in the ECR/ECN process to review all potential changes for agency compliance, alerting all departments to problems, drive resolution, update product description files accordingly.
• Possess knowledge of Hazardous area classifications and applications (desired).
• Communicates effectively with diversified cross functional global teams to achive or exceed the common goals.

Qualifications:
BE/Masters-Mechanical/Electrical or Equivalent from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5-7 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 3-5 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Master’s Degree
Skills:
Ability to interpret Engineering drawings, NEMA, UL, CSA, IEC, EN and other applicable codes and standards for electrical/mechanical components/products
Generate construction review documents, SOPs and formulate appropriate test plans and analyze test data to determine compliance per applicable requirements of standards
Interface with product engineering team, internal/external test labs and certification agencies on any product certification related activities
Must be capable of making technical judgments on product problems and be able to recommend preferred/suitable solutions
Initiate and handle certification projects independently
Handle global projects independently including all aspects of a project for certification starting from initiating projectswith agencies, planning, preparation of test plan, coordinate product testing, test data and documentation compilation until project completion
Ensure quality & timely delivery of the projects
Ensure that project work is conducted within budget and in accordance with in-house procedures
Proactively coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight timelines
